Fionnuala Murphy

Fionnuala Murphy

Manager (Bainisteoir)

Before joining IASAQ, Fionnuala worked for several years as a Child and Family Practitioner, supporting parents to prevent their involvement with the child safety system, assisting families with children under the age of eighteen. She has extensive experience across a range of community and social service roles, including positions in Youth Justice, Refugee and Asylum Seeker support in the Settlement, and Community Detention programs.

Fionnuala is deeply passionate about supporting people within the community. Having moved from Ireland to Australia with her husband and two young children several years ago, she understands firsthand the challenges of settling into a new country, from building a support network to navigating the many practicalities of establishing a home and finding the right information and advice.

Debra O'Brien

Debra O'Brien

Outreach worker

Originally from Dublin, Debra studied in Ireland and began her career as a Case Worker with the Dublin Simon Community, supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, and mental health challenges. She worked across several hostels in Dublin city, helping people on their journey toward securing stable housing and maintaining independence. After a number of years in this field, Debra made the decision to move to Australia to continue her work in community support.

Debra is passionate about building genuine connections and earning trust to best support individuals in need. She is equally dedicated to fostering connections within the Irish community in Australia, helping people feel a strong sense of belonging, identity, and culture.

Jennifer Ale

Jennifer Ale

Volunteer Coordinator

Originally from Belfast, Jennifer moved to Brisbane in 2018 with her husband and children. Deeply committed to Irish culture and community, she takes great joy in bringing people together and fostering meaningful connections within the Irish community.

With a strong background in sales across various industries, Jennifer has developed a keen interest in streamlining processes, digital media, and event coordination. She is particularly enthusiastic about growing and strengthening IASAQ’s volunteer program, creating more opportunities for engagement and connection across the community.
