Here at IASAQ, we are aware that for parents raising children, especially those living overseas and away from home, family and Irish culture, can be challenging and isolating. The IASAQ Parents' Group provides year-round activities, including educational programs and outings to parks and other locations.
The IASAQ Parents’ Group provides a safe, judgement-free environment to meet other people and have time to enjoy that all-important cup of tea. This is a great way to check in with other parents, share advice, concerns, triumphs, or just to know you’re surrounded by like-minded people who understand. Join the group and meet a supportive network, form friendships, and enjoy the little ones interacting and making friends.
Way back in 2014, IASAQ formed our first Mother’s Group, and since then, it has continued to thrive. Renamed to the IASAQ Parents’ Group in 2023, this initiative has become a vital support for Irish parents in Queensland. While all the activities are free, we would encourage you to become an IASAQ member.
We asked our parents how they felt after attending these sessions: Here are just a few of the things they said:
“Finding that everyone is in the same boat is reassuring”.
“Learning coping strategies for times of stress has been great”.
“I liked being able to share our experiences and finding solutions”.
“Sharing and bonding with other parents in similar situations, and through meeting up and hearing others, we can offer each other support”.
